Everything you want coffee to be. Classic tones, with surprises up its sleeve.
Flora Ramos' coffee from her farm Las Gemelas is a standout hit for us. We sampled Ramos' coffee alongside several other lots from other farms in partnership with Primavera Importers, and we could not wait to share this sweet, complex coffee with you! With notes of chocolate, pear, and green grape, it plays with the balance of traditional and modern coffee flavors in just the right way. Enjoy this new single origin as we move through the Winter and look toward Spring!
The name of ‘Las Gemelas’, or ‘The Twins’ farm has its origin in the fact that Flora Ramos, owner of the farm has twin daughters, which are the reason why she is working every day on her land. She started as a producer approximately 30 years ago, and initially worked together with her husband. He taught her all the practices and processes that are carried out in the coffee field. After ten years, her husband passed away. Since then, Flora stayed in charge of the farm, while she had to take care of her family as well. This was a tough challenge, but with her dedication and perseverence she showed that it is possible improve the farm little by little. And improve both the livelihoods of herself and her children. The Las Gemelas farm is located in El Pajal village, San Antonio Huista, Huehuetenango. The farm has has an average altitude of 1650 meters above sea level. The farm has Caturra, Paches, Bourbon and Catuai varieties. She also highly values one’s commitment to the environment, which to her means not only improving the quality of the coffee but improving it in such way that is doesn’t affect the ecosystem. In the future she hopes to invest in her wet mill, and to have a soil and foliage analysis done.
